Kiddo at home that just won’t stop growing and has an interest in sewing? Let Grace help them upcycle favorite garments that they can’t let go of yet. Using pieces retired due to stains/sizing issues, or thrifted items in need of tweaking, we can work with your child’s skill set helping them bring their ideas to life! No specific ideas? No problem! Grace gets the creativity flowing with suggestions and examples! Class direction is 100% dependent on what you bring to upcycle!

New! Intro to Pockets- Two Hour In Person Class – 3 Student Maximum with Laura
Learn two kinds of pockets: on-seam and patch & how to add them to your existing pocketless garments. This class is an intro so we’re keeping it simple, teaching you 2 kinds of pockets from a kit so you can refine your skills before using them on your own items. If you have specific items you’d like to add pockets to please bring them to class, and we can talk you through the process at the end of class if time allows.

New! Kids Meet Your Machine – Beginner Class Ages 8 & up – 1 Hour Private Lesson – with Grace
In this 1 on 1 class we will help your kiddo get more comfortable with their sewing machine (or learn on one of ours!) We will take your kiddo through the basic parts of their machine, winding a bobbin, threading the machine, and getting comfortable with the functions of the machine. After they understand how to operate their sewing machine we will cover basic fabric information and how to sew on fabric.

New! Visible Mending 2: Intricate and Beautiful Sashiko Patterns – 4 Student Max – with Logan
In this class Logan will teach you how to patch up a hole, tear, or rip in a way that is both stylish and functional. This is the follow-up to our Intro to Visible Mending class where they go over the basic stitches and knots you will need to know. You’ll learn how to interlock running stitches to make intricate and beautiful sashiko patterns. If you have already taken the Intro class, or if you already know how to do some basic stitches and knots, this Visible Mending #2 Workshop is perfect for you!

New! Fix Those Socks – The Easy Way with Sock Grafting – A Kristen Original -No Experience Necessary
If you’re trying to create less waste and want to repair what you have, there is something we all likely have in common–socks with holes. Worry not, learn to fix them with Kristen! Sock darning is BEAUTIFUL but that art takes time. If you need a quicker fix for your socks, then sock grafting is the way to go! Through Kristen’s sock grafting technique, learn to harvest from the most damaged socks and stitch them by hand on your holey socks in a way that is as least noticeable as possible.

New! Sewing Basics: Scrunchies & Intro to Textiles for Ages 10 & Up – with Grace
Ever wonder what the difference between fabrics is and how to approach working with certain textiles? In this class you learn all about working with different fabrics while making a simple project: scrunchies! Learn which needles to use, and how to sew fabrics of different weights and textures all while making an abundance of scrunchies to add to your collection! We will go over fabric difficulty level and how to tame the trickier of textiles. Learn about sewing on sheer, stretch, silk, slippery satin, and fabrics that have a pile (velvet/terry).

New! Intro to Darning with Logan – No Experience Necessary
Darning is a very beginner-friendly hand-mending technique that involves weaving over the hole in your garment with interlocking stitches. In this intro to darning class Logan will show you how to darn a sock with a darning egg or mushroom. You will learn all the basics of how to darn, including what types of fabrics and garments are best mended with darning. By the end of class you should feel confident in your ability to mend using darning.

New! Kids Sewing Basics: Ages 6 & up – Hand Sewing to Machine Sewing with Grace – No Experience Necessary
This private lesson will go over hand-sewing, and when your child is ready, we introduce the sewing machine and a simple project. This class could also span over a few sessions if necessary. To especially consider your kiddo’s safety, we do not want to rush them as they learn.

Hand Mending Basics with Kristen
Learn the basics of hand mending so you can rescue and repair your own wardrobe. Mending a wardrobe doesn’t always require a machine. With a few basic stitches and knots you can add a patch, tack a fallen hem, fix an opened seam, or replace a missing button. Follow-up classes will include intro to Reweaving, and sweater repair. Intro to Visible Mending with Logan
This class is all about making the most loved and/or damaged part of your garment beautiful and functional again with decorative mending. In this workshop, Logan will cover using basic stitches to repair your clothing, reinforcing a thinning area as well as how to patch up a hole, tear, or rip in a way that is both stylish and functional. We will provide all the thread, needles, and patching materials you will need.

Intro to Crochet Upcycling – from T-shirt to Trivet or Rug with Helena
Upcycle an old t-shirt into a trivet, coaster, bowl, or the start of a rug in this introductory crochet class. Learn how to make t-shirt yarn, and then learn the basics of crochet including the chain stitch, single crochet stitch, crocheting a circle, increasing stitches, & how to finish off/add to your project. No experience necessary!

Sewing Basics: Button-Up Pillowcase with Grace – Beginner Class – Handmade Gifts
Learn your way around a sewing machine on this upcycled pillowcase class! Turn a button-up from a loved one into a pillowcase you (or someone else) can squeeze whenever you are thinking of them! Or simply create a fun handmade, upcycled project easy for beginners that want to get more comfortable with using a sewing machine.

Meet Your Machine – Beginner Class All Ages – 1 Hour Private Lesson with Laura
In this 1 on 1 class, bring in your own machine, and Laura will help you become better friends. This class takes you through the basic parts of your machine, winding a bobbin, upper threading, different stitches and basic machine maintenance. Kids Sewing Basics: Tote Bag with Kristen
This class is for kids 10-16 (email if you child is younger and wants to learn!) Your child will learn your way around a sewing machine as they complete a tote bag project. They will learn how to thread a machine, wind a bobbin, sew a seam and finish raw fabric edges as you construct a tote bag from a kit of upcycled materials. Online Fit Analysis: Getting to Know your Preferred Fit with Kristen–Not a sewing class!
Bring in a piece you love and a piece you wish you loved and Kristen will help you explore why that is. In order to create as safe of a space as possible for this class and discussion, you can also request to take this class with others that share your gender/identity.

Draft & Sew: No Waste Fluffy Skirt with Laura Laura will teach you how to make a classic gathered skirt from your measurements.
You’ll learn how to calculate fabric yardage for a project, gathering and hemming techniques, as well as several elastic applications based on your sewing experience! Leave with a finished skirt and hand-out that will let you sew this skirt again and again. Not available online, but email about online private lessons!

Intro to Sewing from a Pattern 1 with Laura
Learn how to read a purchased sewing pattern from the outside-in. In this class we will cover how to take your measurements, choose your correct size, how to read all the keys and guides on your pattern envelope and instructions, and get advice with making fabric choices. Sewing from a Pattern 2: Fabric Layout & Cutting with Laura

Sewing from a Pattern 3: Ready to Stitch
You’ve got your pattern pieces cut out, your markings transferred to fabric, and you are ready to stitch! Use the hours of class time for any of the stages of our Sewing from a Pattern series, from pattern instruction deciphering, to economical layout of your pattern pieces on fabric for cutting, or guidance as you begin to sew a project you’ve got ready to go. This is not a class to learn to sew. This is all about working within your abilities in a sewing lounge setting with our tools and guidance.

Machine Denim Repair with Kristen
In this class, learn how to mend your jeans! Bring a CLEAN pair of damaged jeans and we will assess the damage, discuss patches, interfacing, what type of thread/needle to use, and how to consider the grain of the fabric for this repair, and learn about about machine darning! Whether it’s a straightforward adjustment, or whether it requires a creative solution, Kristen can go through the available options and teach you how to let out your wardrobe, adjusting for whatever your sewing level is. Intro to Alterations: Take in the Sides Workshop with Kristen
In this class, Kristen will go over how to take in the sides on one of your garments (a shirt or unlined dress you bring with you to class).
