RETHINK is not your typical tailoring shop.
RETHINK’s mission is to keep as many garments out of the landfills as possible. Here’s how we do it:
- We ONLY tailor and upcycle preloved garments (email to get in the queue)
- We mend garments for clients (email to set up repair consult)
- We empower others to do it themselves. (email to set up private lessons or join the RETHINK Patreon)
- We design sustainable and upcycled garments, harvested from damaged garments from the community (shop online email info@rethinktailoring.com to set up a shopping appointment at the studio)
TAILORING/UPCYCLING PRELOVED GARMENTS:
If you would like to join our queue to have preloved garments (1 year or older) from your closet upcycled, updated, let out, etc. email info@rethinktailoring.com about your project, with photos and your timeline to join the list! We will email you when it’s your turn, and if you already had a taken care of elsewhere, no worries! In the meantime, you can also join our email list.
*no walk-in hours for repairs or tailoring. 3449 Bloomington Ave is a private Studio with no scheduled open hours.
GARMENT REPAIR:
Want something repaired? From denim repair, zipper replacements, fixing holes in sweaters and t-shirts, to creative repairs, Kristen can help! Email Kristen about your project (details, photo, and timeline) at info@rethinktailoring.com and she’ll set up a repair consult/drop-off with you! If you want to learn to do the repair yourself, Kristen can also teach you in a private lesson, so just email about it! We are unable to work on leather/fur.
*We do not have drop-in hours, so please email ahead of time.
PRIVATE LESSON & CLASSES:
Have you been wanting to learn to sew? If you don’t have a machine yet, our Hand-Mending Basics Class is a perfect place to start learning to fix your wardrobe. See all of our sewing, alteration, mending, and upcycling classes we offer here or email if you want to schedule a private class for you and your friends. Don’t see what you want to learn? We can do private lessons for $50/hr so just send us an email to info@rethinktailoring.com to let us know what you want to learn! SHOP OUR GREEN BOUTIQUE:
At RETHINK Tailoring, we sell clothing designs that are upcycled in house from materials collected from the community through our #RETHINKTrashTalk unusable garment collection. We also sell owner Kristen’s line of Resizable Kids Clothing Ginger Bean), clothing/accessories made by or in collaborations with other local artists, locally made soap/shampoo bars/shave pucks, and masks cut from deadstock and secondhand fabrics.
