80s Dress to Sweet Separates

When you have a very 80s dress with worn out elastic, but you know it has so much potential.

This 80s dress had shoulder pads, stretched out elastic, and such little shape. But with that color and striping, it was calling to me!

With the broken elastic, the very first thing I did was slice it in half. I added darts and gathers to the skirt, and draped the pockets so they would stand away from the skirt a little. Next, I added a zipper and waistband, and gave the skirt a fresh hem. As for the top, I said goodbye to the shoulder pads. I slimmed and recut the sleeves, moved the black stripes so they were vertical and much more flattering, and shortened the length. And the best part is these can be worn together or separate!
